Afterthoughts

The simplicity of life in hindsight

When six months is a life-time

Six months is one half of a year to the calendar;

Six months is two thirds of a season to a footballer;

Six months is the agony of a life that could have been to the terminally ill;

Six months is the anticipation of a new beginning to a pregnant mother;

Six months is a long dream to the man in a coma;

Six months is the pain of having to endure every date, every conversation, every smile and every loving glance that she wouldn’t give you;

Six months is a life-time if you’re in love with a girl you know you can never have.

If only..

You look at yourself through a mirror, and all you see is what the mirror has to show you. And you believe.

If only you would believe me.

If only you could get into my head and look through my eyes,

you could see the glint of a million rubies in your eyes.

If only you could get into my head and touch with my hands,

you could feel the warmth of the morning sun erupt from every inch of your skin.

If only you could get into my head and walk with my feet,

you could feel my knees go weak as you glide gracefully by my side.

If only you could get into my head and listen with my ears,

you could hear the music in every word you say.

If only you could get in my head and wade through my emotions,

you could feel the pain every time you turn me down.

If only you could get into my head and sit with my thoughts each time I talk to her,

you would know that all I do is think about you.

If only you could get in my head, you would begin to believe.

The Knock Of Vindication

When you were 13, he sent you a friend who would talk about your pimples.

While you were growing up, he gave you braces so that no guy would ask you out.

While you were in school, he made sure that the wrong guys asked you out to prom.

While you were in high school he gave you height and poise, and made you clumsy so that no guy would make a move on you.

He tried his best to keep you away from all the guys.

He tried his best because he knew that the one guy who mattered would come knocking many years later.

When this guy arrives, he knew that he would be vindicated.

8 months into 2011, in the land of the bulls, somewhere on he 6th floor, a door was knocked.

And then he smiled down upon us, knowing that he was vindicated.
